Edward G. Kelly, Q.C.
Ted articled and practiced with Rogers and Company and its predecessor firm Ghitter and Company. After an absence from law and living most of the past 12 years in a quiet little seaside town on Vancouver Island, he recently returned to Rogers and Company. Ted acts as a litigator and a solicitor with an emphasis on commercial and real estate law. He has appeared at all levels of court in Alberta as Plaintiff and Defence counsel, where he has extensive experience in commercial and residential foreclosure and financial litigation. He has tried cases in leasing, landlord and tenant, wrongful dismissal, construction, builders’ liens, real estate and land and development, generally all areas involving business and commercial enterprises, both in contract and tort.
As a solicitor, Ted has acted for national and local companies in purchase and sale of Assets/Shares, shopping centres, automotive dealerships, dental practices, restaurants, commercial and residential real estate, commercial leasing, incorporations and has a good understanding of business. He builds strong relationships with clients, providing general counsel and addressing specific needs.
He is experienced in business and was an originating partner in a medical services startup, involved with developing the business plan, negotiating contracts, leasing, leasehold improvements, and hiring upwards of 40 skilled and professional staff. He was also a partner in two other small businesses. Prior to his career in law, Ted was a reporter, columnist and editor with newspapers in his hometown of London, Ontario and in Calgary.
Ted has an active history of volunteerism in the community, coaching minor sports, serving on political campaigns at all levels of government, provincial constituency president, campaign chair, regional vice-president and service in his church community. He continues to provide pro bono legal services.
He is a family man who enjoys time with children and grandchildren. He and his wife are experienced sailors who have sailed extensively in the waters of the west coast and the Caribbean. He finds his creative side in landscape photography.
